“I was frustrated because Mandy wasn’t recognized because the work she was doing is so surreal and so subtle and nuanced,” the 41-year-old actress said exclusively. Us Weekly on Monday, August 1, as she continues her collaboration with . promoted Capital One car navigator.

Moore, 38, played Rebecca Pearson throughout all six seasons of the drama. While several actresses played Metz’s character, Kate Pearson, confused star portrayed the matriarch from her teenage years to her death as an older woman.

“I think people don’t realize what it really takes and how many hours she would be in the hair and makeup trailer before she could even set. And oh – of course she was pregnant!” the Florida native added. Moore welcomed her son, Gus, in February 2021 and was in the early days of her second pregnancy when This is yous packed filming in the spring.

The NBC drama received just one nomination for Outstanding Music and Lyrics for the song “The Forever Now,” which was co-written by Moore’s husband,Taylor Goldsmithand Siddhartha Khosla. Metz was grateful for the recognition, but noted that it was still disturbing that other elements of the show were being overlooked after six years.

“When you see someone like” Dan Fogelman make a show that has literally changed people’s lives and their hearts…to go unrecognized because it’s kinda frustrating,” the Breakthrough actress explained.

While the family drama didn’t get many nominations this year, it was previously nominated four times for Outstanding Drama Series from 2017 to 2019 and again in 2021.

“I am so grateful that a network show has been nominated [for] so many years, and we are recognized by peers and people who have also been changed by the show,” Metz gushed. “I do know that there are incredible actors and incredible shows that all need to have their time in the sun and be recognized. I just felt like going out for the sixth season… I think it was a miss. I do.”

The Stay awake artist is not the only member of the This is us cast who have expressed displeasure with the awards season stump.

“Would I wish our show was recognized for what I think it was? [its] best hour? Of course,” Moore, 38, wrote in July via her Instagram story after the news, pointing to creator Fogelman’s “brilliant writing for 6 seasons” and executive producer. Ken Olin‘s “flawless direction” – both of which were not recognized by the Television Academy.

“Our insanely, incredibly talented cast and crew?” the How to act? actress added. “Yeah…but nothing can take away what our show meant to SO MUCH (including us). That’s an incredible legacy to be a part of. I will be eternally grateful to you.”

For Metz, the This is us series finale marks the end of a chapter in her career and the beginning of a new one.

“It’s uncharted territory and a new journey,” she shared with U.S. “Just like when I started the show, it was still uncharted territory. There’s always the thought and the feeling of uncertainty and what it’s going to look like and what it’s going to mean and how am I going to change for hopefully for the better, right? Hopefully we are always trying to evolve.”

While it can be nerve-wracking getting back into the game as an actor, Metz noted that that car buying game doesn’t have to be with Capital One Auto Navigator.

“It’s a digital tool, so you can be in the comfort of your own home [and] you can pre-qualify through the digital app,” she said of the site that allows potential buyers to find a vehicle online and present their pre-qualification offer to a car dealer, which speeds up the buying process.

“It can be quite intimidating to go to a dealer and then try to pre-qualify and wait,” the TV star added. “[With Capital One Auto Navigator], you can literally pre-qualify before going to the dealer without affecting your credit score. Hallelujah! Which is so exciting.”
