During a performance at London’s Signature Brew Haggerston on Saturday (June 30), Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater cover band The 900 was joined onstage by skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, who provided vocals for two songs featured in the game.

Onstage, Hawk sang Goldfinger’s “Superman” and Agent Orange’s “Bloodstains,” who appeared in the first and fourth pro skater games respectively.

Speak with NMEThe 900 explained that Hawk played with the band after seeing them Instagram. Hawk messaged the band saying “he was going to try and catch a show while in England”, to which The 900 “took the opportunity to ask if he would do a few songs with us – lucky for us and the audience said yes.”

Hawk was welcomed onstage by the crowd who chanted his name, with The 900 describing an “astonishing” reaction to the skateboard star’s appearance. With Hawk on vocals, The 900 went on to play Goldfinger’s “Superman” and Agent Orange’s “Bloodstains,” which appeared in the first and fourth pro skater games respectively.

“He absolutely nailed ‘Superman’ and ‘Bloodstains’! It was easily one of the best moments of our lives,” the band said. You can watch The 900 and Hawk play ‘Bloodstains’ – and a clip of ‘Superman’ – below:

While playing “Bloodstains,” Hawk told the crowd it was one of his “gateways” to punk rock. After the performance, Hawk said that ‘Bloodstains’ was “one of the first punk songs I heard as a kid and it was a catalyst for shaping the soundtracks to [Pro Skater] spell.”

“We were so grateful that he agreed to do this,” told The 900, adding that “it was a beautiful moment for everyone in the room” — including Hawk, who “seemed just as gassed to be on stage and sing the songs. ”

For the 900, which formed as a “general cover band” before entering pro skater covers to have more fun with their performances, the evening was just as good. “Not only did we meet one of our idols and play on stage, but we also knew it would be the best surprise for the audience,” said The 900, adding that it was “an evening we will all never forget.” . ”

In other game news, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will be available on PlayStation Plus starting tomorrow (August 2).
