As usual, The Gunners regularly organize the Emirates Cup tournament to welcome the new season and in 2022 they invite Los Nervionenses as invited guests for this 15-year tournament.

The Emirates Cup was indeed first introduced in 2007 with their first four editions always inviting three teams in four club tournaments, winning five and losing the title four times.

They started a one-game tournament in 2019 with a match against Lyon, which ended in a 2-1 defeat, but instead they hosted a tournament for the women’s class by inviting Bayern Munich. But just like the men’s team, the women’s team also lost 1-0.

Meanwhile, Arsenal look set to reclaim their Emirates Cup after just 15 minutes this year, Mikel Arteta’s men managing to overtake Sevilla with four goals without reply.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a penalty after he was brought down by Karim Rekik in the penalty box. The young star has now taken on the task of execution with the departure of Alexandre Lacazette and he is doing his job well.

Just five minutes later, Arsenal went 3-0 up after new striker Gabriel Jesus scored twice in less than three minutes. The Brazilian forward scored his first goal in the 13th minute before adding a second in the 15th to extend the lead.

Interestingly, Bukayo Saka managed to score his second goal just four minutes later to make it 4-0 in a very lopsided game, with Sevilla goalkeeper Bono entirely at fault for the fourth goal against him.
