Wolves journalist Steve Madeley has shared an update regarding the Premier League club’s potential plans for the remainder of the summer transfer window.
What’s the news?
According to a recent tweet from The Athletic’s Wolves reporter, the Old Gold are “most likely” to try and sign a midfielder after potentially bringing a new striker to Molineux before the transfer window closes.
In terms of adding a new striker to their squad, Fabio Silva’s exit from the club on a season-long loan deal to Anderlecht, in addition to Raul Jimenez’s knee injurycould very well make Wolves step up the chase when it comes to securing a new centre-forward.
Should they be able to do so, this could give them time to focus on what sort of midfielder they would want to bring in, as Madeley hinted in his tweet.
Wolves supporters will be buzzing
Bearing in mind how Wolves only scored 38 goals throughout their previous Premier League campaign, leaving only the three relegated clubs having found the net on fewer occasions, perhaps adding a midfielder who can also be a consistent goal threat could be just what Bruno Lage needs.
Do Wolves need to sign a midfielder this summer?
Also, with Joao Moutinho and Leander Dendoncker set to see their current contracts at Molineux expire next summer, the midfield position could become even more of a significant area to strengthen if those two were to leave.
Even though the Old Gold haven’t exactly been as active in the transfer market as some of their Premier League rivals this summerthis update from Madeley should fill Wolves fans with confidence that the club are looking to strengthen important areas of the squad before the transfer window closes.
If Wolves can end the summer with a new striker and midfielder in their squad in addition to Collins’ arrival at the back, this may be all that’s needed to see them have a better season than in 2020/21.
