Family of five! David Henri and Maria Cahill welcomed their third child, a rainbow baby, on Sunday, July 17, after suffering a previous miscarriage.
“IT IS A GIRL!!!! Gemma Clare Henrie was born 7lbs 15oz at 03:21,” Henrie, 32, shared via Instagram next to some family photos from the hospital. “Maria is currently enjoying the most deserved nap ever haha. She stuck to her plan I and had a drug free delivery and I couldn’t be more in awe of her! Thank God for the greatest gift on earth and Mary and I thank you all for your prayers. I have received many messages and I really appreciate that. #vitabella #deogratias and a big compliment to our nurses Morgan and Sofia and our midwife Katy! You are all spectacular and thank you to all the nurses out there, we appreciate you.”
The Wizards of Waverly Place alum announced in December 2021 that he and the former beauty pageant queen, 31, had a little one on the way. The pair previously welcomed Philomena, 3, and James, 19 months, in March 2019 and December 2020 respectively.
“Maria and I were really agonizing over what to get our son James for his first birthday #3 #bigbrother,” the California resident wrote in an Instagram photo of James’ birthday party at the time. “We are going to wait until the birth to reveal the gender. Couldn’t think of a better gender reveal back then [sic] I have that right?!”
That same month, the former Disney Channel star told his Instagram followers that the Delaware native had her fifth miscarriage before becoming pregnant with their little one.
“I’m proud of her for doing what it took to heal, and now we’ve got another chance with our third child, and hopefully we’re free from miscarriage risk,” Henrie wrote.
The actor previously spoke about his partner’s pregnancy losses when they welcomed Philomena.
“Maria and I had three miscarriages before we could finally bring Pia to full term,” said the… How I met your mother alum wrote in 2019 via Instagram. “While it was insanely difficult to recover from miscarriage after miscarriage, we knew that if we could ever hold a baby of our own in our arms, we shouldn’t let the tragedy affect our marriage, but rather grow together!”
Henrie went on to explain why he “felt compelled to share their losses” writing, “I had no idea how hard it can be to start a family. My wife and I have endured trials. … We discovered a severe progesterone deficiency that seems to be our culprit. The answers are there.”
When James arrived on Christmas Day, Henrie told his Instagram followers about Cahill’s fourth miscarriage.
“Jesus… blessed us in a special way by giving us James on this date, because it was December 25, 2019 that we had our fourth miscarriage,” the This is the year star explained in the social media upload in 2020. “Thank you all for the prayers and get well wishes, they have paid off immensely. … My wife is a superhero and was able to achieve her goal: a drug-free birth. I am so proud of her!”
The couple married in Los Angeles in April 2017, three months after Henrie got down on one knee.
