Ricky Martin’s cousin, who accused him of incest and abuse, has “mental health problems,” according to the brother of the singer of Livin’ La Vida Loca.
The revelation comes amid new claims that Ricky’s cousin Dennis Yadiel Sanchez has a long criminal record in his native Puerto Rico and once threatened to kill a female colleague.
Fox3Now reports that Sanchez’s colleague Claudia Ramrez Martell even issued a restraining order against him after he became “obsessed” with her, showing up repeatedly outside their workplace and saying he planned to kill her.
Ricky’s brother Eric Martin claimed in a Facebook Live video Friday that Sanchez “has mental problems.”
The Latin singer’s older brother said the 21-year-old, who is now estranged from the family, has hurt other family members.
He added that the family struggled with Sanchez’s worsening mental health issues, but that he was “tired to keep quiet,” although he said he and his family still loved their troubled nephew.
Eric’s claims match what Martin’s legal team told DailyMail.com on Friday, which was that Sanchez “struggles with deep mental health issues” and flatly dismissed the “disgusting” allegations.
The outrageous claims against the She Bangs singer emerged after Sanchez, the son of Vanessa Martin, the pop singer’s half-sister, filed a restraining order against his uncle Ricky on July 1.
The warrant related to a domestic violence incident in Puerto Rico, but the victim’s identity was withheld. Eric has since identified the alleged victim as Sanchez, Spanish news channel Marca reported.
Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, 21, accusing Ricky Martin of incest
Eric Martin, Ricky’s younger half-brother, posted videos on social media in the wake of the explosive accusations of “performing physical and psychological assaults” on Dennis Yadiel Sanchez during their seven-month relationship, which ended about two months ago.

Sanchez has since claimed that Ricky carried out “physical and psychological attacks” on him during their alleged seven-month relationship, which he said ended about two months ago.
The singer denies the claims.
“Ricky Martin, of course, has never – and never would have been – involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his cousin,” attorney Martin Singer said Friday.
“The idea isn’t just false, it’s disgusting. We all hope this man gets the help he so desperately needs. But above all, we look forward to seeing this terrible case dropped as soon as a judge can look at the facts.’
A representative of the married father of four, 50, previously called the abuse allegations “completely false and fabricated” in a statement provided to People earlier this month.
The star, who was spotted in Los Angeles on Friday on the set of his new AppleTV+ miniseries, is expected to appear in Puerto Rican court on July 21.
Martin’s accuser, believed to be Sanchez, filed a restraining order against the singer on July 1 under Puerto Rico’s domestic violence law.

The order prohibited Martin from contacting or calling the petitioner who allegedly ‘feared for his safety’.
According to the warrant — which was reviewed by El Vocero, a Puerto Rican newspaper — Martin and Sanchez broke up two months ago after dating for seven months.
Sanchez claimed Martin did not accept the divorce and hung out near his home at least three times, according to the warrant reviewed by El Vocero, a Puerto Rican newspaper.
He also claimed that Martin had “consumed large amounts of alcohol and drugs.”
The protective order was signed on July 1 after authorities visited the Martin neighborhood in the north coastal town of Dorado to try and assist him, police spokesman Axel Valencia previously told The Associated Press.
Valencia noted that the person who requested the restraining order had failed to contact police, which allegedly led prosecutors to determine whether there was enough evidence to press charges. Instead, the request went straight to court.
Puerto Rican law takes allegations of incest very seriously. If the alleged romance between Martin and Sanchez is confirmed, the singer could face up to 50 years in prison for incest.
Martin responded to the allegations on July 3 on Twitter, saying: “The protection order issued against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and dignity that characterize me.
“As it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make any detailed statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity and receive them with all my heart.’
He has not made any additional statements about the allegations.

Martin has been married to Syrian-born Swedish painter Jwan Yosef since 2017.
The couple share four children: 13-year-old twins, Valentino and Matteo, as well as Lucia, three, and Renn, also three.
In June 2021, Martin spoke about his family while rumored to be expecting another child.
‘I’m not hiding anything these days. We are not pregnant,” Martin told People at the time. “Right now we are dealing with twins and Irish twins because Lucia and Renn are only nine months apart. And they’re overwhelming, but we’re strong and healthy.’
Still, he said they wanted “more” children in the future, and that they’ve “frozen embryos.”
