Legend Red Devil Rio Ferdinand has told the Manchester United board to step in and silence Anthony Martial if he is found to be lying about refusing to play for the club.
Rio Ferdinand has demanded the club’s board investigate Anthony Martial’s alleged refusal to play for the club and silence the France international if he is found to have lied about his manager’s statement at Old Trafford.
Interim coach Ralf Rangnick revealed that the 26-year-old refused to play during the draw The Red Devils against Aston Villa in the Premier League match at Villa Park last weekend which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Shortly after, Anthony Martial went on to defend himself, saying via his social media stories that he had never refused to play for the club he had joined since the summer of 2015, meaning that he claimed manager Ralf Rangnick had lied about him.
Now club legend Rio Ferdinand has asked the club’s board to investigate the matter to find out the truth of the situation and silence Anthony Martial if it is proven that he lied and bragged about his situation at Old Trafford.
He said on his Youtube channel FIVE, “If Martial isn’t telling the truth there when he says he never refused to play or disrespected the club, if he turns out to be refusing, then someone at the club needs to step in and completely silence him.”
“They need to clarify this matter. Rangnick had said what needed to be said and Martial responded and basically said the manager was lying. The club board must step in and address this issue. Players should not underestimate what the manager has to say. He must be silenced. If Rangnick is right, there’s no way any player would be allowed to talk like that.”
