That was interim manager Ralf Rangnick’s thoughts as he presented his assessment of Manchester United’s current squad to the club’s board, with them now without a Premier League title since 2013 in Alex Ferguson’s final season as coach.

According to reports, Ralf Rangnick made a presentation to the club’s board earlier this month, in which he told them that Harry Maguire’s defensive trio [kapten], Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are not good enough to play for Manchester United and insist they deserve to be replaced.

Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka came together in the opening carriage of the transfer of the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era with both brought in for fantastic prices, costing Rp. 1.4 trillion and almost Rp. 900 billion, respectively. While Luke Shaw has arrived since the 2014/2015 season, it was only in the 2020/2021 season that he really performed quite well.

Meanwhile, Ralf Rangnick has now been hired as interim boss and a potential consultant for the next two years. Part of the focus of his work in the coming years will be based on talent assessment and identification.

Now he has told the club board about the players Manchester United already have, and according to reports 90min Global, the German boss exposed the team’s defensive problems during his presentation and recommended that major changes be needed.

Indeed defense has become a major problem for The Red Devils since last season, and this season they have conceded 29 goals in just 20 games, second worst after West Ham [30] of all the teams in the top nine of the Premier League standings.

Harry Maguire was heavily criticized for his poor defensive skills, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka was heavily criticized for his lack of attacking prowess. Luke Shaw also seems to be returning to the factory settings after having performed quite well last season. It’s no surprise now that Ralf Rangnick is starting to put a lot of faith in Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles, both of whom were rarely used under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
