ACCURATE.CO, Irfan Jaya became one of the stars behind the victory of the Indonesian national team (Timnas) over Myanmar with a score of 4-1 in the official FIFA international test match in Turkey. Despite the landslide victory, the PSS Sleman players admitted that the Garuda squad – the nickname of the national team – still has shortcomings that must be corrected.
In the match that took place at the Emirhan Sports Complex, Antalya, Turkey, Thursday (25/11), the Indonesian national team performed quite well. Shin Tae-yong’s men immediately pressed on from the start. As a result, the Garuda squad was able to lead 3-0 in the first half through goals from Ricky Kambuaya (5′), Irfan Jaya (12′), and Witan Sulaeman (33′).
In the second half, the Indonesian national team added one more goal. This time, it was Ezra Walian’s turn to score with a kick from the white spot in the 55th minute. Meanwhile, Myanmar’s one goal was made by Hlaing Bo Bo in the 73rd minute.
“Alhamdulillah, we are very happy that we were able to win this match. This is thanks to the hard work and cohesiveness of all the players. However, we admit there are still shortcomings in the team, and we have to fix that,” said Irfan Jaya after the match, as quoted from the PSSI official website, Friday (11/26).
The former Persebaya player added that the success of overcoming Myanmar was an important asset for the Indonesian national team ahead of the 2020 AFF Cup in Singapore in December.
Irja, Irfan’s nickname, said that the main goal of the current Garuda squad is to achieve maximum results in the most prestigious soccer event in Southeast Asia.
“At the moment the team has grown even better. Physical and finishing are also increasing, as evidenced by four goals created in this match. My goal was motivating so that in the 2020 AFF Cup I can achieve the best results,” added Irja.
To note, during the training camp in Turkey, this is the second trial of the Indonesian national team. Previously, the Garuda squad had to surrender 0-1 to Afghanistan (16/10).
In the next trial, Indonesia will fight Antalyaspor on 28 November. After that, the Garuda squad will fly to Singapore on December 1, 2021 to take part in the 2020 AFF Suzuki Cup.
