Ahok admitted that as Pertamina’s board of commissioners, he had received an explanation regarding the purchase plan.

However, what made him suspicious from the explanation was about the purpose of this German company’s purchase to enter the US and Chinese markets. He also questioned the basis of the company’s purchase.

“I heard that PT IBC wants to buy this German car factory, the PPI once explained to us the board of commissioners, we said the narrative was whether to buy a German electric car. ‘So that we can enter the American market, enter the Chinese market’. That’s what I said, be careful, you can’t want anything, you make up or give future valuations, what is the basis, future valuations, this is new stuff,” Ahok said on the YouTube channel Call Me BTP, quoted by Hops.id on Friday. , November 25, 2021.

Moreover, according to the former Governor of DKI Jakarta, Indonesia itself has the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) which is capable of developing electric cars.

However, if the development of electric cars is still lacking, of course they can work together or collaborate with other companies that are able to help the Indonesian people in developing electric vehicle technology.

For example, said Ahok, IBC could cooperate with one of the famous cheap electric car manufacturers from China, namely Wuling.

Cooperating with this kind of car company is nothing new. Previously, the government had also collaborated with major car manufacturers such as Hyundai and KIA.

Therefore, Ahok considered that the breakthrough needed to be done so that the Indonesian people could develop their own electric vehicles.

“You already know how you use your feelings, you want to make an electric car, already have our batteries, it’s better to develop ITS children. If you still don’t understand why don’t you invite Wuling or the Chinese company ‘I want to make a car using my brand, can I or not?’ I can. Do you still remember whether Hyundai became Bimantara, KIA became Timor. It’s OK why not do it like that so that you can develop, “said Ahok.

Ahok admitted that he did not have much knowledge. However, if something went wrong, he could quickly catch it.

“That’s why I said, I don’t have much knowledge. But when you talk in front of me, I chase you and you start being crazy, I can quickly catch you that your mens rea is not right,” he said.

“The boss in America has a Tesla boss, in China, ouch, Wuling only costs Rp. 50 million electric cars,” Ahok added.

As is known, IBC is a company formed by a number of state-owned companies. Pertamina is one of the shareholders.
