Nova confirmed that Abhimanyu was still called up because he had recovered from an injury that had prevented the Johor Darul Takzim player from playing in the FIFA matchday against Afghanistan.

However, it is not yet known which players will be chosen by the head coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong.

“Syahrian Abimanyu plans to continue to be summoned to the 2020 AFF Cup. If the full announcement will be updated later, just wait,” said Nova to the editor of INDOSPORT.COM sports news.

Meanwhile, PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan said there were 30 players who might be called to the 2020 AFF Cup. However, he also did not know the names that Shin Tae-yong wanted.

The same thing was also conveyed by the technical director of PSSI, Indra Sjafri. The coach from West Sumatra only asked fans to be patient with Shin Tae-yong’s choice.

“Just wait, the names of the players who go to AFF will be released later,” he said briefly.

There are currently 25 players participating in the senior national team training camp in Turkey. Coach Shin Tae-yong also projects Elkan Baggott and Egy Maulana Vikri to play in the biennial event throughout Southeast Asia.

The 2020 AFF Cup will be played from 5 December 2021 to 1 January 2022. Singapore will host as matches are played centrally.

The Indonesian national team is in Group B of the 2020 AFF Cup and will compete with Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and Laos.
