Is the hunt over?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the then-Manchester United manager, left the club on Sunday morning, it was announced.
His departure was necessary following a dismal showing during a 4-1 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road.
Manchester United can confirm that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as Manager.
Thank you for everything, Ole ❤️#MUFC

While it feels as though it has come months too late, it is ultimately the only decision that was left open to the Manchester United hierarchy after a terrible run of form that has seen the club slip from 3rd to 8th place in the Premier League, and a full 12 points off league leaders Chelsea.
However, in the days that have followed, the sheer ineptitude of those above Solskjaer in the Old Trafford hierarchy has been on display, too, as the Red Devils have been scrambling to find a new manager.
Finally, however, the hunt may be over.
Rangnick set to be appointed
As per David Ornstein, a reliable source at The Athletic, Manchester United have agreed a six-month deal with Ralf Rangnick, which will be followed by a 2-year period as a club consultant.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Man Utd reach agreement with Ralf Rangnick to become interim manager. 6mnth contract then 2yr consultancy. Deal subject to Lokomotiv Moscow approval. Work permit process prevents 63yo leading #MUFC v Chelsea. W/ @lauriewhitwell @TheAthleticUK https://t.co/wjQyiRzfeE

Rangnick has previously worked at Schalke and RB Leipzig, and currently works for Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow. Any deal would be contingent on the Russian giants agreeing to part ways with him, although the report suggests that this condition isn’t anticipated to be a problem.
As per The Athletic:
Rangnick is regarded as the ‘godfather’ of modern German coaching and will bring a very hands-on perspective to Old Trafford.
Rangnick will not be in the dugout for Manchester United’s next fixture, against Chelsea, with a work permit not able to be sorted in time, leaving Michael Carrick to take charge of his first, and most likely only, Premier League game.
Manchester United fans, are you happy with this appointment?
