Vitamin C cannot be produced by the body. So, you need to eat foods that contain vitamin C, such as oranges, kiwis, strawberries, and others.
Apart from food, vitamin C can also be obtained from taking supplements. However, you can’t eat too much of it.
Taking too much vitamin C can also lead to the formation of kidney stones. This is because the body excretes excess vitamin C in the body as oxalate.
In some cases, oxalate may bind to minerals and form crystals. Therefore, vitamin C supplements can cause kidney stones.
Another cause of kidney stones is not drinking enough fluids and taking certain medications. For example, taking aspirin can increase a person’s risk of recurrent kidney stones.
If you decide not to take vitamin C supplements, the NHS recommends that you lead a healthy lifestyle to boost your immune system.
