NBCNEWS – Barcelona have just completed the transfer of Dani Alves, and the Brazilian is already cheering for the Barca players on his first day back at Camp Nou.

The 38-year-old right-back has signed a short-term contract for Barca until the end of the 2021/2022 season.

Alves himself has previously been vocal about his desire to return to Camp Nou and is reportedly Barca’s lowest-paid player – with a performance-related bonus built into his deal.

He cannot officially play until January but the former Sevilla man returned to the Ciutat Esportiva training complex on Monday (11/15/2021).

And the Barca media team managed to record the Brazilian’s first speech and then give it to some of his team-mates who have not yet served international duty with their respective countries.

“It’s good to be here after such a long time,” was the first sentence Alves said as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

“Coming back here is an honor, a pleasure. To be able to share with you again. I have come to learn from you, now a new world. But from the old, I want to say one thing: to know what this club and this jersey represent. “

“I’ve been abroad and this is the best place to do great things, to live. You’re here, appreciate it because there’s nothing better outside.”

“Confirm that it’s great to be here with you. Let’s do great things because this club is made of this, do great things.”

Alves also received a standing ovation from the players present. He also met his former colleagues such as Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Sergio Roberto.

And of course there was a special hug with Xavi, who is now coaching Alves after years as captain.

Alves had tried to return on two occasions but a deal could not be done. After the success of his third request, he described signing for Barca for the second time as a “huge honour”.

During his first spell, Alves made 391 appearances over eight years and won an incredible 23 trophies, including six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.

Despite his age, Alves still has hope of playing in the 2022 World Cup with Brazil. He successfully won gold with the Selecao in the 2020 Olympic football tournament last summer.
