Madura United have officially introduced their new coach Fabio Araujo Lefundes to enter Liga 1 2021.
Fabio Araujo Lefundes, an architect who is full of experience in the Asian Champions League, was assigned to be the successor of Rahmad Darmawan.
Rahmad Darmawan is considered to have failed to bring Laskar Sape Kerrab to compete in League 1 this season by only entrenched in the 14th position of the standings.
Fabio Araujo Lefundes has been leading the training of Bayu Gatra et al in Yogyakarta since Monday (15/11/2021) yesterday.
Besides Fabio Araujo, Madura United also announced two new assistant coaches, namely Osvaldo Lessa Filho and Claudio Daniel de Oliviera Luzardi.
President Director of PT. The United Madura Bola Polana (PBMB), Zia Ulhaq Abdurrahim, said that the presence of Fabio Araujo brought a positive aura to the team.
He believes the presence of the Brazilian coach is able to boost Madura United’s performance.
“We saw that the process of introducing and communicating with players did not experience difficulties because there were Osvaldo Lessa and Luzardi who helped translate,” said Zia Ulhaq, quoted from the league’s official website.
The arrival of Fabio Araujo Lefundes, who is playing for the first time in Indonesia, has indeed seized the attention of the Indonesian football public.
Armed with coaching experience in the South Korean League and the Brazilian League, Fabio is predicted to have a big impact on Madura United.
While still defending the South Korean club, Jeonbuk Hyundai as a fitness coach, he was able to present one Asian Champions League title and four K-League titles.
In 2017, he then joined the Chinese League club, Shandong Taishan FC.
There, he managed to lead Shandong Taishan FC to finish in third position in the 2018 season and secure a ticket to the Asian Champions League.
Before officially joining Madura United, Fabio had been an assistant coach of the famous Brazilian League club, Botafogo.
Zia Ulhaq believes Fabio’s achievements with previous clubs will be contagious with Madura United.
Despite having a wealth of experience, Madura United’s management does not target Fabio to win the 2021 Liga 1 title.
The 49-year-old captain was only asked to lead Madura United to a better position.
“The club certainly hopes that this collaboration will be a positive collaboration to improve team performance.”
“The specific target is to improve the position in the standings,” he said.
