Everton could reportedly make a move in the January transfer window for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers if they cannot revive a loan deal for Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Manager Rafa Benitez is looking for a right-back to replace veteran captain Seamus Coleman, unfortunately that he lacks the transfer funds to be free to strengthen his squad further.

In the transfer market last summer, The Toffees had intended to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles, but the effort was stopped by Arsenal which even made the players complain because he wanted to get regular playing opportunities at other clubs rather than stay at the Emirates without guaranteed playing time.

But with him having just put in an impressive performance during the 1-0 win over Watford in the last game before the international break in the Premier League, The Gunners it will be increasingly difficult to let go of the 24-year-old player.

So now Everton are aware and intend to explore the possibility of another Arsenal defender, Calum Chambers, who has not played for almost three months in the Premier League. He has only played twice in the league, most recently in a 5-0 loss to Manchester City at the end of August.

The 26-year-old England international is currently in the final few months of his contract at Arsenal and the club are yet to take up the option of extending his contract for another year.

Report from SunSport now claim that Everton want to be able to take advantage of Calum Chambers’ situation and try to get him out of the Emirates Stadium for a bid of IDR 96 billion.

Manager Mikel Arteta does not want to make any changes to his squad in January and is reluctant to let anyone go, but accepts that the defender needs regular football to revive his career after seven years in North London.
