Ingredients
– 500 grams of chicken thigh fillet
– 1 segment of grated ginger
– 1 clove of grated garlic
– 3 tablespoons soy sauce/soy sauce
– 1 egg
– 2 tbsp wheat flour
– 2 tablespoons cornstarch
– 1 tsp baking soda
– A pinch of salt
– The oil for frying
Tartar sauce ingredients
– 150 grams of Japanese mayonnaise (can use kewpie brand)
– 1 hard boiled egg
– 1/4 onion, finely chopped
– Spring onions, chopped
– Salt and pepper powder to taste
Nanban sauce ingredients/simple ponzu
– 3 tbsp shoyu
– 1 slice of lemon juice
– A little lemon zest
– 2 tbsp sugar
– 50 ml of water
(You can also use ready made ponzu sauce)
How to make
– Marinate the chicken with grated ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and eggs, mix well, store for about 30 minutes in the refrigerator
– For the tartar sauce, mix all the sauce ingredients, mix well, set aside
– For the nanban sauce, mix the soy sauce, sugar, lemon zest and water, cook until it boils then turn off the stove, add lemon juice, set aside
– Take out the chicken, add flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt, mix everything well
– Heat oil, fry chicken until brown and cooked, remove
– Cut the chicken into pieces and put it on a plate, add nanban sauce and add tartar sauce on top
– Chicken nanban is ready to be served with pickled vegetables
