“Lionel Scaloni confirmed right away”
NBCNEWS – Lionel Messi will play against Brazil on Wednesday (11/17/2021) with Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni having confirmed that the 34-year-old can be fielded.
Questions arose when the Albiceleste captain was called up amid knee problems, with Messi missing two games for Paris Saint-Germain.
However La Pulga was deemed fit enough to come off the bench in Argentina’s previous match against Uruguay.

Speaking at his press conference on Monday, Scaloni confirmed Messi would play, ruling out speculation that he may have problems from the injury he sustained.

The PSG star initially had to be substituted at half-time in October’s clash against Lille and underwent treatment on his knee in Madrid, with team-mate Leandro Paredes joining him in the Spanish capital.
Paredes also appears to be recovering well from his injury, with Scaloni adding: “Leandro is training normally. We have to evaluate whether we will include him in the final call.”
“He arrived after a few days off, but the important thing is that he is doing well.”
Quite an important win
After the 1-0 win over Uruguay last time out, Scaloni will be hoping Messi is back to his best after only appearing as a substitute in the final 15 minutes of the game.
Argentina sit second behind Brazil in the CONMEBOL 2022 World Cup qualifying standings, and a win over Thiago Silva et al could cut the gap between the two South American giants to just three points.
Brazil itself has ensured themselves qualify for Qatar after a 1-0 win over Colombia.
