Indeed Stefan de Vrij has been a key transfer target for his former Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte, with the January transfer market expected to start being a busy transfer market for the Italian tactician.

Central defenders, central midfielders and additional strikers have been the focal point of additions to Spurs’ current squad and the 52-year-old boss is poised to bolster his former club, Inter Milan, to strengthen his squad in North London.

Stefan de Vrij immediately emerged as a top target for Antonio Conte because he is not only adept at playing as part of a back three, but also because of his ability with the ball as a modern centre-back.

According to reports Football Insiders, The 29-year-old was aware of Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in him and he started asking his Premier League colleagues about Spurs and how life in England was.

Indeed, there are many Dutch internationals in England who could serve as references for the former Lazio defender, such as Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool or Nathan Ake at Manchester City. In the squad The Lilywhites there’s also Steven Bergwijn.

A January move is a possibility for Stefan de Vrij, especially if he does not agree to a contract extension at Inter Milan. His current contract expires in the summer of 2023 and he is expected to be available for IDR 765 billion.

The 29-year-old defender is rated more highly by Antonio Conte than Milan Skriniar, who came close to joining the Spurs in the summer of 2020 and again in January 2021.
