He asked the Oil and Gas (Migas) BUMN Holding to conduct an evaluation, especially at the Pertamina Cilacap Refinery regarding the cause of the fire incident. This is because the fire incident has occurred several times.

“So we ask for a thorough evaluation and why it could be repeated. The evaluation must be comprehensive so that an incident like this does not happen again in Cilacap,” he said in an official statement, Tuesday (11/16/2021).

Arya also anticipates that in the future the fire incident will not happen again.

“We know Pertamina again improvement but it’s happening again. So it has to be a total evaluation, especially in Cilacap,” he continued.

Previously, Central Java Police Chief Inspector General (Pol) Ahmad Lutfhi stated that the fire in the 36 T-102 tanks in the PT Refinery Pertamina International (KPI) Cilacap Unit area was suspected to have been caused by a lightning strike. This was stated by the Kapolda in a Press Conference at the Patra Graha building, Cilacap, Monday morning (15/11/2021).

The Kapolda explained that so far his party has examined 6 witnesses, 5 of whom are external parties.

“The five witnesses confirmed that on Saturday night, November 13, 2021, when the fire incident occurred, there was rain accompanied by lightning around the scene,” he said.

This is reinforced by witness statements from the Cilacap Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
