Diabetes is a condition of high levels of glucose in the blood. This is caused by the body’s inability to properly process glucose into energy.
Diabetes should be detected early to avoid severe complications. Unfortunately, many of the symptoms of diabetes are often overlooked until they get worse.
In fact, diabetes can be a life-threatening disease if high blood sugar levels are not controlled. One of the signs that you have high blood sugar levels or diabetes will be seen in the belly button.
Signs of Diabetes in the Navel
There are some clinical symptoms associated with diabetes in its early stages, but complications will inevitably arise if high glucose levels are not treated. Signs of chronic high blood sugar usually manifest in the arms, legs and eyes, caused by diabetic neuropathy or nerve damage.
Other signs of out-of-control blood sugar levels include a yeast infection. Candida is a yeast that usually grows in damp and dark areas of the body.
Such fungal infections can occur in the navel and are characterized by a clear or colored discharge. Crusty skin, pungent odor, itching, and redness are also signs of a yeast infection in the belly button.
